Phlox

The phlox is a tall and stately plant with an unusually short blooming season. However, its striking appearance and vibrant color are very memorable. Phlox is a member of the Polemoniaceae family and is prolific throughout North America, even in very cold regions. Phlox flowers bloom in the summer and in the fall, and may be blue, red, cream, or violet. Their fragrant blooms help them create the ethereal atmosphere of the Conservatory Garden. Phlox is particularly popular in the garden as a border for its large flower beds. This plant's height, which can be as great as 3 feet, makes it stand out.
