Shakespeare in the Park Announces 2017 Program

Published on Apr 05, 2017

Free Shakespeare in the Park is an annual event that is held at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. It is produced by The Public Theater, and attendance is free, provided that guests wait in line for tickets on the day of the performance.

Shakespeare in the Park includes two productions over the course of the summer, and one of New York City's most beloved summer traditions.

This year, Julius Caesar will be directed by Oskar Eustis and will run from May 23 through June 18. The contemporary rendition of Shakespeare's political masterpiece will star House of Cards cast members Corey Stoll and Elizabeth Marvel, as well as Tony winner Nikki James and Pulitzer winner Stephen Adly Guirgis.

Lear deBessonet will be directing A Midsummer Night's Dream, which will run from July 11 through Aug. 13.
