Douglas Blonsky, President of the Central Park Conservancy To Retire

As Mr. Blonsky announces his retirement on Tuesday from the conservancy, a nonprofit group founded 37 years ago to rescue Central Park from decades of neglect, his imprint on the park’s landscape is everywhere.

Over more than three decades, Mr. Blonsky helped the park become maybe even more pristine than it was when Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux began creating it out of farmland 160 years ago.
