Announcing the grand opening of CentralPark.com!

September 01, 2005

After months of toil, exhaustive labor, sleepless nights and seemingly endless walks around the park gathering up to date information and amazing photos (okay, that part was actually pretty cool) CentralPark.com is live.

We’re (we think) rightfully proud of our efforts and we invite you to take some time to explore some of the state of the art features we’ve prepared.

First take a moment to look around the Zoo. CentralPark.com has in depth articles and candid pics of every animal housed in the Wildlife Center. Check out what Gus and Ida (Polar Bears) do on their day off.

Then take a look at the Map It feature. Using this amazing tool you can zoom in and out of the Central Park landscape from an altitude of 10,000 feet down to 100. You can use this tool to locate any attraction or landscape feature inside the park as well as plot the exact location of your next picnic.

You can use the Event section to find out about what’s going on in the park on any particular date (or range of dates) with just one click and even post your own park get together - automatically sending invitations to your friends.

The Photo section allows members to upload up to five of their favorite park pics and share them with the rest of the online Central Park community. Once posted the pictures will be rated by other visitors and coming soon the highest rated photo each season will win valuable stuff from the Central Park Store and/or our sponsors.

If you take a moment and Register as a member (free, no obligation, be the first on your block) you can not only take advantage of the Events and Photos features, you can also sign up for our regular Newsletters (weekly, monthly or special edition) that will keep you informed of upcoming events, park news and the many other features we’ll be adding to the site in the coming months. You can even use our onsite messaging component to send notes to other members. (No secret handshake required). And there is a Central Park Bulletin Board you can use to exchange views on park issues, post Central Park stories or connect with other park users with similar interests.

Besides all this there are hundreds of informative articles about the many Central Park attractions, activities, sports, volunteer opportunities as well the fascinating history of the park. And much, much, more. Really.

So now its time for you to enjoy the fruits of our labors. So, c’mon in, kick off your shoes and run around on the Great Lawn, virtually. The only thing missing is the smell of the grass and the sounds of people enjoying themselves. And we’re working on that.
