Christo and Jeanne-Claude Honored
October 31, 2005
The spectacle of The Gates in Central Park has triumphed as one of the great public art projects in the history of the United States. Millions of people visited Central Park to see the thousands of bright orange gates erected in February 2005 amid America's most famous urban landscape. Designed by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, the 7,532 gates that stretched over 23 miles of park pathways, raised visitors' awareness of the path network. The reception and dinner will begin at 6:30 pm with the awards presentation taking place at 7:30 pm.
