On Saturday, June 20th, Stihl Timbersports teamed up with Adventures NYC, for a 30th anniversary celebration and competition. According to an article in the NY Times, twenty professionals competed in three chopping and three sawing disciplines, that ranged in time from 10 seconds to just over one minute. These events have gained popularity and a following due to them being broadcast on ESPN for the past 35 years. The champions from this past Saturday, will then participate in the world championship, which will be held in Poland this year. and aired on ESPN.

Bringing this outdoor sporting event to Central Park, created some interesting challanges for the producers of the event. The 10-day setup period was expedited to 48 hours and the three-day competition was crammed into about nine hours. The usual six-month location preparation took two years. In spite of the rain on Saturday, many people from all over the country traveled to Central Park to watch the event and participate in their own outdoor adventures that Adventures NYC offered.
