Midnight Run
Celebrate the New Year at the Midnight Run!
UNFORTUNATELY THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED.
Join in on the fun and celebrate with a midnight run as 2020 comes to a close. Your support and participation play a role in fulfilling the New York Road Runners' mission to help and inspire people through running, and benefit NYRR’s free youth and community programs.
The countdown to midnight starts at 11:59 p.m., and the four-mile run will begin on the stroke of midnight, along with a fireworks display to light up the night and the start of 2021.
Live Results
Live unofficial results are available during the race at liveresults.nyrr.org and in the NYRR app. Features include leaderboards, map tracking, and an individual runner search that can be shared on Facebook and Twitter. Tell your friends and family to follow your progress, and because the system works great on mobile devices, you can get unofficial results right after the race!
Location and Entry
In compliance with NYPD security plans, the start area and Pre-Race Festival, located at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, will be open to registered runners and their guests only; these areas will not be open to the general public. To access these areas, runners and their guests must enter the park at West 72nd Street and Central Park West or East 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue in order to go through security screening. Runners attempting to use other park entrances will experience delays in getting to the start and risk not starting the race on time.
Each runner will be permitted one guest and receive a wristband at number pickup to give to their guest. Guests must display a wristband and runners must display a bib for entry into the park at 72nd Street and into the Pre-Race Festival and start area.
The general public may still view fireworks from south of 72nd Street inside the park, and will be subject to security screening at any park entrance south of 72nd Street.
Security
Runners should allow themselves plenty of time to go through security screening. Runners and their guests will be screened at either of the two park entrances, and again before entering the Pre-Race Festival and start area. Runners and guests should consider not bringing a bag to the event. Those who choose to check a bag should use only the clear plastic bags distributed at number pickup. Guests should not bring any bag larger than a purse or they risk not being allowed into the park.
