Origami Holiday Tree at Museum of Natural History

See this year's 13-foot Origami Holiday Tree in all its splendor!
An annual tradition, the cherished Origami Holiday Tree has marked the start of the holiday season at the American Museum of Natural History for more than 40 years.
The 2025 tree celebrates the theme New Beginnings, inspired by the Museum’s new exhibition Impact: The End of the Age of Dinosaurs. The 13-foot tree showcases the incredible diversity of species that appeared after the asteroid impact 66 million years ago, reshaping life on Earth.
The tree is decorated with over 1,000 handmade origami models including pterosaurs, mosasaurs, plesiosaurs, Triceratops, T. rex. It also includes some mammals and insects that evolved after this time, such as ancestors of the Blue Whale, primates and birds.
Produced in partnership with OrigamiUSA, these hand-folded paper models were created by local, national, and international origami artists.
Free with admission. Floor 1, Futter Gallery.
