While both from Vancouver, Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance coincidentally ran into each other in New York and subsequently teamed up to create the enigmatically named Bob Moses (it’s a reference to the infamous NYC city planner Robert Moses). Howie was a singer in a rock group, and Vallance was busy engineering EDM for Ultra Records, remixing the tracks of Sia and other dance heavies. What they then forged was a powerhouse producing pair of trance, progressive and alternative dance music that quickly became a Brooklyn underground mainstay. This daring DJ duo released their first joint album in 2015, the complexly bumping Days Gone By. The record quickly blistered up the charts, carried by the Grammy-winning number “Tearing Me Up,” a track packed with emotional resonance. With the couplet’s combined sensibilities in electronica and rock, they produce a sound that appeals to a broad base of fans, all looking for meaningful lyrics and bomb basslines. They’ve been touring relentlessly since they formed, headlining major festivals like Glastonbury, Coachella, EDC and Lollapalooza. With rampant vim and electric energy, their live shows are not to be missed.
