The spirit and soul of the West African people has been passed down, generation by generation, through the black marching band and New Orleans traditions. In modern times, the tradition of the black marching band continues on the football fields of America.
Feature Film: All on a Mardi Gras Day (Royce Osborne, USA, 2003) — 60 minutes
Osborne explores the history of African-American culture in New Orleans, specifically in relation to the annual Mardi Gras celebration. Incorporating photos, archival film footage, and interviews with historians and Mardi Gras participants. Presents a look at the influence of the African, Creole, and Caribbean cultures on the sights and sounds of Black Carnival throughout history.
