Flaco the Owl

A tribute to New York's beloved Flaco will be on display at the New York Historical Society.

An exhibit at the New York Historical Society will honor Flaco's year of freedom and his influence on urban wildlife awareness.

Flaco, a Eurasian eagle owl who escaped from the Central Park Zoo due to vandalism on February 2, 2023, lived freely in New York City for a year before his untimely death from a building collision on February 23, 2024.

The exhibit showcases photographs, videos, and tributes from admirers, emphasizing his remarkable journey and the impact he had on the community. 

In addition to celebrating Flaco's life, the exhibit also addresses the challenges faced by urban wildlife and offers insights on how residents can support local bird populations.
