BroadwayWorld.Com, reports on what has now become an annual event in Central Park, Shakespeare's Birthday Sonnet Slam. Free for the public to attend, the Sonnet Slam features 154 readers of all ages performing all 154 of Shakespeare's Sonnets in numerical order.
The Sonnet Slam is held rain or shine. It is a mix of both amateur and professional Shakespeareans. Notable past participants of the Sonnet Slam include esteemed Broadway and Film stars Stacy Keach, Richard Thomas, Jay O. Sanders, Dana Ivey, and Dakin Matthews among others.
This is a very special year for the Sonnet Slam, because 2016 also marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death on April 23, 1616. Come join the fun on April 22nd at the Naumberg Bandshell located in the heart of Central Park.
