Danny Meyer's Union Square Events' culinary team has returned to the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, in conjunction with the Shakespeare in the Park performances, again this season with their snack bar, Public Fare. It will be operating until August 18, serving casual food jazzed up a bit, such as the Picnic Dog ($5.50) with crushed barbecue potato chips, scallions and mustard sauce; Roasted Cauliflower ($4.75, $6.75 with field greens) with tumeric, golden raisins, capers and toasted almonds; and ice push pops ($2) in flavors such as Yogurt N' Berries and Watermelon N' Cracked Pepper. Wine ($8-9) and beer ($6-7) will be discounted at Happy Hour on 4pm to 6pm on Fridays to $5 for wines by the glass and $3 for draft beer.
Customizable pre-ordered picnic packages will be available this year such as Picnic in the Park (sandwich, cookie, snack and beer or wine for $21.50) and Sweet Treat Chilled (gelato, sorbet or push pop and wine or beer for $10).
The shop will be open Wednesdays through Sundays, and will have extended hours on performance nights until fifteen minutes past performance start times.
