Central Park Zoo Taking In Injured Maine Seal
March 09, 2007
An injured seal from Maine will soon have a new home at New York's Central Park Zoo. The female harbor seal was discovered in September, stranded on Crescent Beach in Wells, Maine.

She was emaciated and suffering from various infections, including pneumonia. She also had a badly injured hind flipper.
After nursing the little seal back to health, the Marine Animal Lifeline team decided that without the use of her flipper, she would not survive in the ocean. So Director Mark Jakush contacted the Central Park Zoo.
