Central Park Gets Energy Efficient Lampposts

NEW YORK, NY September 17, 2009 —New lampposts were unveiled today in Central Park, equipped with energy-efficient bulbs.
The 13 lights between East 67th and 72nd streets are the first installation in an initiative to test LED-bulb technology in real-world settings to see if the greenhouse-gas-reducing bulbs can provide enough light for urban areas.
