Each one has its one unique character and some are even built around a theme — such as the Ancient Playground, named for the Temple of Dendor in the Metropolitan Museum of Art nearby, which sports model pyramids for climbing. Click here for a complete list of park playgrounds

Camp Central Park - The Central Park Conservancy offers Camp Central Park, a summer program that features sports, arts, nature, and adventure programming designed to provide young campers with a fun and educational experience. With a choice of swimming, searching for wildlife, creating a nature journal, or learning the fundamentals of rock climbing, campers will enjoy their summer in the world's most amazing urban park.

For campers aged 6 to 11, Camp Central Park operates July 5 through August 26, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am — 3: 00 pm, with extended day programming from 3:00 pm — 5:30 pm. All sessions are two weeks.

Central Park Children’s Zoo — The Children's Zoo offers an amazing collection of exciting and educational animal exhibits including a petting zoo.

Recreation Programs - Click here to discover the fun and exercise available at the North Meadow Recreation Center, including the exciting adventure programs.

Carousel — The Central Park Carousel is open seven days a week, weather permitting, and for ninety cents you can climb aboard for an exciting three-and-a-half minute ride.

Conservatory Water — Here you can watch the model boats as they tack across the pond or climb around the statues of Alice in Wonderland and Hans Christian Andersen.

The Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre — Here children of all ages can enjoy original productions in a beautifully renovated cottage.
