Wedding FAQs
CentralPark.com's Wedding Planner offers several different Wedding Packages that can that fit your needs - and your budget. These services include all of the essential components that will make your wedding day memorable in every way.
Where would you suggest for a ceremony location at Central Park?
Pretty much all of Central Park is breathtakingly beautiful, so anywhere you choose will make your wedding a day to remember. Some popular places are Conservatory Gardens, Ladies Pavillion, the Pond, Cherry Hill, Bow Bridge, Shakespeare Garden, East Green, Cedar Hill, The Mall, Hernshead, 100th Street Pool, and Harlem Meer.
What is the cost of permits?
The Conservatory Gardens requires a permit of $400 and an additional photography permit of $100. All other gatherings of 20 people or more held outside of the Conservatory Gardens is $25 and includes the photography permit.
Where do I get my permit?
You can get your permit for the Conservatory Gardens at the Central Park Conservancy by calling 212-360-2766, Monday through Friday or downloading the application online at www.centralparknyc.org. Any other locations in the park, you can download the online application at www.nyc.gov/parks.
When can I get my permit?
You should allow 21-30 days for your permit to be processed. Permits are requested within the same year of the event date. So if you’re planning on tying the knot in 2009, you can apply for your permit in January of 2009. Any last minute events can still be processed if there is availability, please contact us if your event is within the next 30 days.
How do I find out if my wedding date is available?
Availability for your wedding or event date will be given when you apply for you permit. Once your permit application is submitted, someone will contact you if that date is not available. They will also contact you if you have too many guests for that particular location. They will offer suggestions for your size group and event type. If you submit your application and you don’t get any phone calls, your permit is on its way to you. If you need to check on your application status, call 212-360-2766 for the Conservancy Garden and (212) 408-0226 for all other locations in the Park.
Are there any restrictions on using tents and chairs in the park?
Yes! Chairs, tents, tables or anything that will affect the soil is not allowed at Central Park. There are exceptions to the use of chairs for the elderly.
Can I have my ceremony AND reception in the park?
Of course you can! But keep in mind that chairs not allowed so if you are looking the have a reception picnic, the CentralPark.com Wedding planner can arrange for a very special and elegant picnic for you and your guests. Otherwise, other options in the park for a reception include Tavern On The Green and The Loeb Boathouse. The CentralPark.com Wedding planner can also arrange a walk through and proposal submittal from either venue.
Can I bring my own vendors to the park?
Absolutely! You can bring your own vendors and employ the CentralPark.com Wedding planner to coordinate on your special day. We also have a database of vendors we use, so let us know if you need any suggestions or referrals.
