A Picnic in Central Park.

Spreading a blanket or sheet down for a picnic is a wonderful way to enjoy Central Park.  For a small gathering with a handful of people, all you need to do is pick a spot and pack your picnic basket, then you are good to go.  Favorite picnic locales in the park include the Conservatory Garden, the Bow Bridge, Strawberry Fields, the Great Lawn and the Sheep Meadow. (Note that while usually a staple of picnicking, barbecuing is not permitted in Central Park).

If you are looking to plan a larger-scale picnic, please check with the New York Department of Parks and Recreation.  Parties of more than 20 people require a special permit which must be obtained in advance.  In addition, factors including planned activities, location within the park, use of tables and chairs and others, also determine whether a permit is needed.

Picnic Basket for Two.Any great picnic requires planning and our online store has many of the essentials that you'll need to get started.  For a clean, dry surface to spread out on, check out the  Water Resistant Picnic Blanket and Carrier or the Coffee and Blanket Tote.  Pack all of your food and drink items into the Central Park Picnic Backpack, the Collapsible Picnic Basket for Two or the Casual Picnic Basket for Two.  For a quick picnic on the run, consider the popular Picnic Set. Other fun picnic choices include an Eco-Friendly Tote, a Coffee Tote and for larger picnics a Cooler on Wheels. Click here for a complete listing of all of our Picnic Items.
