NY Classical Theatre brings free Shakespeare to Central Park every summer.
Each June, NY Classical Theatre brings an interactive production to Central Park for three weeks of unforgettable outdoor theater. Following that, the show continues in Carl Schurz Park and Battery Park for shorter runs.
These productions feature NY Classical’s signature Panoramic Theatre style, where audiences move alongside the actors throughout the park, becoming active participants in the story as it unfolds.
2026 Performance Details
Production: The Tragedy of Julius Caesar
Written by: William Shakespeare
Directed by: Stephen Burdman
Shakespeare's play puts loyalty and ambition on a collision course, following a group of senators whose attempt to save a republic from tyranny unravels into fractured alliances, public fury, and chaos. A gripping look at power, persuasion, and the weight of political consequences, it's a play that feels urgently of the moment.
Central Park Showtimes: Tuesdays through Sundays, June 2 to June 21, 2026, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
