Getting Around on Race Day
The 65th and 79th Street transverses close for most of the day and the 96th Street transverse closes at 9:00 AM, so crosstown trips by car have fewer options than usual. The city's notice does not list the 86th Street transverse. Inside the park, crossing the Park Drives is not allowed on race day, and our NYC Marathon 2026 event page lists the four underpasses to use. NYRR recommends checking mta.info before you travel.
If you are driving, our partner LAZ Parking offers discounted rates at 9 West 57th Street, 33 West 56th Street, The Metropolitan Garage at 1000 5th Avenue, and One Lincoln Plaza at 20 West 64th Street. You can reserve a spot on our parking garage discounts page.
