Naumburg Orchestra
|
Since 1905, the Naumburg Orchestral Concerts has presented free, outdoor classical music concerts to New Yorkers eager to experience an evening of musical enrichment. Named after Elkan Naumburg, who, in 1923, donated the Naumburg Bandshell to New York City, the series, in its 105th year, seeks to stimulate and encourage new audiences for classical music in serene and beautiful Central Park.
The oldest concert series of its kind in the entire United States, currently the series features promising new talent. It hopes to promote the development of young composers and conductors.
