A Far Cry is a self-directed chamber orchestra founded in 2007 in Boston, known for its democratic approach where all 17 musicians - called “Criers” - share leadership and collaboratively shape programming. This unique model fosters intimate, vibrant performances that blend classical masterpieces with contemporary works, reflecting each member’s artistic curiosity and the world around them. Praised for its fresh and engaging concerts, A Far Cry has earned Grammy nominations and topped Billboard’s Traditional Classical Chart. The ensemble regularly collaborates with renowned artists and composers, continually expanding the boundaries of chamber music with inventive projects and storytelling.
