Brooklyn native Joel Benjamin, an International Grandmaster since 1986, achieved a remarkable feat in 2020 by winning the US Junior, US Closed, and US Senior Championships. He's a three-time US Champion, renowned author of seven books, and was inducted into the US Chess Hall of Fame in 2008.
Irina Krush, the reigning eight-time US Women's Chess Champion, made history in 2013 as the first American woman to earn the Grandmaster title.
Since the age of 14, she has been a vital member of the US Women's Olympiad team, participating in ten events. Notably, she contributed to the team's historic silver and bronze medals in 2004 and 2008, and she personally won a silver medal at the most recent Olympiad in 2018.
Today, Irina shares her expertise through GM Chess, her company that offers private and group lessons for all ages and skill levels. She holds a BA in International Relations from NYU, graduating in 2006.
