The 13th annual French film festival, produced by the Parks Department, the French Embassy is hosting a free screening of La Boum (The Party) 1980, Directed by Claude Pinoteau and starring Sophie Marceau.
Vic Beretton is a Parisian teenager with a lot going on in her life. She has her heart set on one of her classmates, and to make her romantic daydreams a reality, Vic needs to make it to a house party, aka a "boum." But that means she will have to get permission from her parents, and with their nonstop fighting, it won’t be easy… La Boum marks the first screen performance of Sophie Marceau that won her international acclaim!
The screening will start at 8:30 p.m. Capacity may be limited, so guests should RSVP in advance at Frenchculture.org once registration opens closer to the event date.
Film in French with English subtitles.
Online Screening
The free online screening will take place on the French Embassy’s Virtual Cinema platform at the listed time and date of the screening. The online screening has a limited number of tickets available. Reservations will be available here, as we get closer to the screenings’ date.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all employees, volunteers, and attendees, in-person screenings will abide by all state and local regulations regarding large-scale outdoor events, including face coverings and socially distanced seating. Do not attend if you have experienced COVID-19 symptoms, tested positive for COVID-19, or had close contact with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case in the fourteen days leading up to the event.
