The enigmatic Stew rocks the house with two sets: one performing music in concert from his hit show Passing Strange (featuring members of the original cast) and another featuring classic songs and new music from Stew’s “afro-baroque” rockers The Negro Problem.
Direct from The Public Theater acclaimed production Passing Strange, Stew takes the stage at the Delacorte for an unpredictable evening of surprises. With a gift for hook-filled melodies, taut poetic narratives, incisive song portraits and a sardonic sense of humor, the brilliant Stew and Heidi Rodewald also recorded "Where's Gary?" for the most popular episode ever of “Spongebob Squarepants.” The New York Times raves "(a) witty wordsmith, composer and performer, Stew can also play a mean guitar, and when necessary, he strides the stage like an evangelical preacher, or a preening rocker, to whip the audience into a froth."
