"Ladies & Gents"
to
A new play with a very interesting performance venue opened in Central Park this week.
"Ladies & Gents is based on a true 1950's tabloid scandal that once rocked Dublin to its conservative core. Set in the Bethesda Fountain restrooms in Central Park, Ladies & Gents is presented in two twenty-minute acts that play simultaneously in the women's and men's room. This site-specific thriller keeps audiences on a razor's edge of suspense, as it exposes the hypocrisy of a society plagued with rigid class attitudes, sexual secrecy and lies," describe press notes.
This site-specific theatrical event, winner of the Edinburgh Fringe First Award, is written and directed by Dublin playwright Paul Walker. This production is being presented with the support of Culture Ireland, the international arts funding body of the Irish government.
Ladies & Gents will be performed nightly at 7PM, 8PM and 9 PM from March 17 – 29. The running time is 40 minutes. Tickets are $25. For tickets call (212) 868-4444 or visit www.smarttix.com. For additional information, including directions, please visit www.irishartscenter.org/ladiesandgents.htm.
