Join the Orchestra of St. Luke's for a free evening of Mozart with mezzo-soprano Erin Wagner.
On July 21, the Orchestra of St. Luke's brings an entire evening of Mozart to the Naumburg Bandshell, free and open to anyone who shows up. The program includes Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, one of the most beloved pieces in all of classical music, alongside Mozart arias performed by mezzo-soprano Erin Wagner, conducted by Brad Lubman. No tickets, no reservations, just arrive by 7:30 PM.
Founded in Greenwich Village in 1974, the Orchestra of St. Luke's has performed at Carnegie Hall more than any other orchestra since its 1983 debut there. The ensemble has appeared on four Grammy Award-winning albums and commissioned over 75 works, and makes its artistic home at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in Manhattan, which it owns and operates.
Brad Lubman is a conductor with deep roots in both contemporary and classical repertoire, appearing regularly with major orchestras across Europe and the US, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He is founding co-artistic and music director of Ensemble Signal and a professor of conducting at the Eastman School of Music.
Mezzo-soprano Erin Wagner won the 2021 Naumburg Vocal Award, making this concert a particularly fitting pairing with the series. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, San Francisco Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera, and has built a reputation for programming that spans centuries and genres. Her voice has been described as conveying "versatility and musical curiosity" by Opera News.
This concert also marks a milestone for the Naumburg series itself. 2026 is the 100th anniversary of the Walter W. Naumburg International Competition, and Erin Wagner is one of two past competition winners featured across this season's five concerts.
The concert is free and open to all. Seating is first-come, first-served. The performance will be broadcast live and streamed on WQXR.
