This past Saturday, 20,000 runners took off from Central Park for the 2014 New York City Half Marathon.
This year's race was the largest ever with participants ranging from 13 to 82. The course was reconfigured to accommodate the increased size and included the addition of a professional wheelchair race. It began with a loop around Central Park and continued on through Times Square to Lower Manhattan.
Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai, the defending New York City Marathon champion, won Sunday's NYC Half after finishing the course in one hour and 50 seconds. Leading the women was Sally Kipyego, who finished in one hour, 8 minutes and 31 seconds.
