Seeing a coyote in Central Park is a rare occurrence, and this past Sunday was no exception when spectators witnessed a coyote climbing the rocks below Belvedere Castle. This weekend's sighting may be more on par than one would expect, however, since coyotes can travel up to ten miles a day.
The NYC Parks director stated "pups are born around March/April, and then in a year or so when they become young adults, they begin to disperse". She went on to specify details about the coyotes' diet, which to the relief of Central Park's local celebrity - the Mandarin duck - does not seem to include waterfowl.
