Ice cold temperatures turn the ponds in Central Park into ice. Even though there are red signs reading "Danger, thin ice!" next to the red rescue ladders warning them not to, many people still walk on the pond and take selfies.
The NYPD attempts to warn people as well, but they are not always around to supervise. The signs may need to read: "Stay off the ice!" to deter the risk-takers.
