Feb 1, 2024 - A year has passed since someone broke into the Central Park Zoo and freed the Eurasian eagle-owl named Flaco, who has now become one of the city's most beloved characters.
The mystery of who freed him still remains unsolved, and police and zoo authorities have not shared any evidence about a potential suspect.
The Central Park Zoo halted their efforts to try and re-capture Flaco back in February of 2023, but they are “prepared to resume recovery efforts if he shows any sign of difficulty or distress.”
Theories about the reason behind the crime abound.
