emsworld.com, reports that New York City’s backyard will be better patrolled with emergency medical personnel in the coming days with the delivery and dedication of a new ambulance to The Central Park Medical Unit. Central Park Medical Unit (CPMU) is an all-volunteer ambulance service that provides free emergency medical services in and around Manhattan’s Central Park.
Long time CPMU Volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Brennon Jones, dedicated his life to exploration and to helping others. He served the people of Central Park for decades as a dedicated member of the volunteer medical unit, by triaging emergency first aid to patients and by transporting the sick and injured. Brennon Jones’ battle with metastatic prostate cancer ended on February 2, 2014, but his good will and charity hadn’t yet been completed.
With the addition of the new ambulance, CPMU will be able to staff it with an additional four EMTs per tour each weekend. “Our ability to continue delivering free prehospital emergency care to our 40 million visitors annually to Central Park will be enhanced with the additional resources,” said Rafael Castellanos, CPMU President.
