Mar 30th, 2026 - Around 400 dogs and their owners gathered in Central Park for the second annual Cornell Richard P. Riney Canine Health Center Bark in the Park, a non-competitive 5K fun run and walk raising money for canine health research.
The event, held near the bandshell, drew participants from across the New York metro area and beyond, with buses arriving from Cornell carrying veterinarians and staff. Attendees received swag for themselves and their pets, heard brief remarks on the bandshell stage, then set off on a loop through the park.
The Riney Canine Health Center, established with support from the Riney Family Foundation in 2021, has funded more than 50 research projects targeting conditions including oral cancer and gall bladder disease. Last year's inaugural event drew around 350 participants, making this year's turnout a new high for the event.
