The Bethesda Fountain is Restored
Luckily, just in time for summer, the Bethesda Fountain and Terrace are open, as the restoration has been completed.
During the spring, the staff of the Central Park Conservancy worked to maintain the bronze and masonry of the Angel of the Waters sculpture which graces the top of the Bethesda Fountain.
The team stripped the statue, conditioned the bronze and also handled the weathered patina surface. Finally a hot wax coating was added to the metal to further protect it from weathering and aging conditions.
