Playbill.Com announced that the current Broadway revival of the musical Chicago, is the second-longest-running Broadway show in history after Phantom of the Opera. The producers have announced a slate of events to celebrate its 20th anniversary year.
The revival originated at the City Center Encores! series in May 1996. It transferred to Broadway November 14, 1996. SummerStage, City Parks Foundation’s annual free performing arts festival, will present a one-night-only event on August 31 to celebrate Chicago’s milestone.
Kander and Ebb’s beloved music and Ann Reinking’s award-winning choreography will be performed concert-style under the night sky in Central Park. The event will be free and open to the public.
