Committed Denver Broncos fan Terry Montoya and his wife Sara scrapped the idea of a large wedding they had been planning for 2015 so that they could see their favorite team play in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks. They were married in Central Park the day before the big game. Fortunate in missing last week's cold spell, the two hired an elopement company, took care of their wedding license online, hired a photographer and made their own bouquet.
"He's a huge Denver Broncos fan and I always wanted to come to New York," said Sara who, coming from a family of close to 350 people, was overwhelmed with the idea of planning a big wedding. When she found out the Broncos were going to the Super Bowl and she was able to get face-value tickets through a friend, she jumped at the chance. The couple, who had been engaged for a month and a half, decided eloping Central Park during their almost two week trip would be perfect cure for their worries.
"It's going to be a great story to tell our kids," said Terry, who hasn't missed a Broncos game since 1982. "If we have a daughter, we're going to tell her all these romantic stories to try to convince her to elope."
