It's not unusual to see celebrities in Central Park. This week two very different celebs popped up for two very different reasons.
Fifteen-year old Disney star Bella Thorn was spotted taking a casual stroll through the park with her dog, Kingston, and a friend on Monday. The "Shake It Up" star enjoyed her visit to the park on the heels of signing a recording contract with Hollywood Records. She will begin recording over the summer with a single planned for release later this year.
Tuesday, Central Park Conservancy and Parks Department officials welcomed former NFLer and current host of "Live with Kelly and Michael", Michael Strahan. Strahan took a Conservancy lawn mower for the inaugural mow of Sheep's Meadow of 2013. Strahan pitched in with Conservatory staff to tackle the mowing of 250 acres of lawn in preparation of the reopening on Saturday. Also requiring attending to for the oncoming season are the 57,000 flowers and shrubs, 108 tons of sand for 21 playgrounds, 1,400 sprinkler heads and 26 baseball fields.
Though he used push mowers as a child, he found it to be a throwback to his days mowing lawns on the German Army base he grew up on with his military family.
"There's a lot of people who do a lot of work and raise a lot of money to make sure the park is the way we love it," said Strayhan. "It comes full circle - started from mowing, now I'm back here."
