Those popular and hard-working carriage horses that tote tourists around Central Park get vacations of their own.
According to the New York Post, the equines get at least five weeks of leave, often more.
The article says the horses "kick off their horseshoes and frolic freely at the Central Park carriage-horse version of Cancun: a farm in upstate Monticello."
Like a couple savoring complimentary welcome rum punches at an island retreat, "They absolutely lose it for the first couple of hours," carriage driver Frank Rodden was quoted as saying. He runs the Catskill Mountains horse getaway.
"They enjoy their work, they enjoy their time off, they enjoy their time alone, and they enjoy time with people. It's a perfect system," said Rodden.
