On Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20, 2010, the Outdoor Foundation will be sponsoring the first ever Youth Summit on the Outdoors in Central Park. Sponsored by partners such as North Face, the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, Backpacker Magazine, The Conservation Fund and Mobilize.org, the event will be the nation's largest urban outdoor festival.
It aims to empower America's youth to lead the outdoor revolution. Tens of thousands of festival-goers are expected to attend the event, and 500 delegates from across the country will also participate to celebrate New York's Central Park and outdoor living.
The organization is currently accepting applications in its national search for 500 change makers to travel to New York City. Delegates will be selected based on outdoor interest and a commitment to lead local, regional and national efforts that will reconnect youth and the outdoors.
Interested individuals ages 18 to 30 can visit www.outdoornation.org/youthsummit and apply to be part of this groundbreaking event. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 31, 2010. Chosen delegates will work together to develop a national agenda, set priorities and outline strategies and solutions to champion the outdoors.
