Gothamist.com reported today that the annual Winter Jam scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled in Central Park, due to the expected snow storm.
Gothamist wanted to know why, so they asked the Parks Department, "How much snow is too much snow for a Winter Jam?" NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchel Silver did not answer that question, but they passed along his statement in reply: "We are disappointed to have to announce, that out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of New Yorkers as we prepare for the expected blizzard, that we have canceled Winter Jam 2016."
The parks department had already started to "make" snow this past week in anticipation of the event. The event as of now is not being rescheduled. Be careful out there this weekend, but there should be plenty of sledding and snow ball fights going on this weekend anyway.
