In 2005, artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude were finally granted permission to construct their most recent work "The Gates" in Central Park after a 30-day waiting period.
Their project consisted of 7,503 saffron-colored gates and panels of nylon placed throughout the park and remaining for just over 2 weeks. An HBO documentary titled "The Gates" is scheduled to be re-aired on December 9th, 2009 and will cover the husband and wife's efforts in their most recent work. It will also be in honor of Jeanne-Claudes November 18 death from a brain aneurysm at the age of 74.
