Mother Goose, Alice in Wonderland, Juliet of Romeo and Juliet fame, but all of these female staues are of fictional women. According to NYMAG.COM, that could change soon.
NYC Parks Department has approved in theory the erection of two statues to honor Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony by the park’s West 77th Street entrance.
There are over 800 statues in NYC Parks, but only a few sculptures that feature historical women — including Eleanor Roosevelt and Joan of Arc, which are both located in Riverside Park.
