Mother nature has not been cooperating with Central Park this winter, according to an article in the New York Times. The Ice Festival that was scheduled for today, Saturday, February 13th, had to be cancelled due to the bitter winds and perhaps record breaking cold tempertures.
Three weeks ago, the park was set to host a Winter Jam, featuring sledding, snowshoeing and skiing. It was canceled because of the approaching blizzard, that dumped over 26 inches of snow over Central Park.
The weekend after this one, temperatures are expected to climb back to the high 40s. Better weather, perhaps, for an ice fest. Neither the Winter Jam or the Ice Festival will be rescheduled for this year.
