The sun was out, and the feel of spring was in the air, which was joined with the fragrance of a freshly mowed lawn. As reported on ABC 7 New York, Eyewitness News was in Central Park Thursday to help welcome springtime visitors, as the team joined the Central Park Conservancy for the ceremonial First Mow of the season at the Sheep Meadow.
On Saturday, April 2, all Central Park lawns and ballfields will reopen to the public for the year, conditions permitting. The 15-acre meadow is one of Central Park's most popular lawns for picnicking and relaxing. Central Park's lawns are closed every winter.

Before heading out to the various lawns and fields, know that they do not open until 11am, and if you see a red flag on the lawn, that means the area is closed for the day.
