John Jay College of Criminal Justice recently reported that a number of thier graduate students had the unique opportunity this past November, to do some hands on excavating, collecting and examining skeletal remain in Central Park.
Their professor set up a crime scene in the composting area of the park near the 102nd street entrance after receiving a permit from the Central Park Conservancy. The professor said “The composting facility was a perfect place to organize this, as it is not landscaped and it’s vast enough to hide a body.”
The students found the exercise very useful and the professor is hoping to get a permit to do this twice a year with her grad students, as well as to create another version for the undergraduates she teaches.
