The GM Foundation will be donating $100,000 to Central Park Conservancy. The money will be allocated to help expand the Conservancy's "Keeping it Green" program. The program introduces pre-kindergarteners through 12th graders to the importance of maintaining Central Park, and its vital role in the life of the city. The curriculum offers environmental and horticultural education to over 500 students annually. With the infusion from the GM grant, the program will expand to add weekend sessions for families, and is expected to increase participation by 30 percent. The money will also go toward funding a downloadable resource for educators to disseminate the program beyond the classroom. That technology is expected to be available in 2014.
