A few months ago, we reported along with various news agenices that there are no staues of real woman anywhere in Central Park. In Central Park, there are 22 statues of famous men from history and several of fictitious women, including Alice in Wonderland and Mother Goose, but none of famous women from history, Jenkins said.
Jenkins said she is advocating to put a bronze lectern or podium in front of Stanton and Anthony to add an interactive component to the installation. “I want a statue where other people can make their voices heard, a place for free speech for women and men,” she said. “The past is a tool for the present and it inspires the future.”
