cbslocal.com reports that hundreds of people cooled off for a good cause. Their goal was to raise money and beat the world record previously set in the United States. The ALS Association kicked off a new round of challenges this month, asking people to get wet, post a video on social media and make a donation.
Last year’s fund-raising phenomenon is estimated to have brought in $220 million worldwide. This year approximately 500 people gathered by the Bandshell in Central Park to try to break the US Guinness Record. Organizers of the event say they’re going to send the number of participants and proof to the Guinness Book of World Records and should know if they beat the record in the next few months.
