John Lennon was shot dead on December 8, 1980 by a crazed fan. As they have been doing ever since his death, fans will gather again at Strawberry Fields, just opposite the Dakota Apartments, to pay tribute to the slain artist. It was thirty years ago that the deranged gunman ended the life of the ex-Beatle just outside his home as Lennon was returning from a recording session with his wife Yoko Ono.
But Central Park is not the only place where people will gather to pay their tributes to the rock icon. A vigil will also be held in Liverpool to recreate a famous Beatles picture and a charity concert called “Lennon Remembered – The 9 Faces of John” will take place tomorrow at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.
