Oct 6th, 2026 - The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is set for Sunday, October 18, at the Bandshell in Central Park. Festival grounds are open from 8 AM to 12 noon. The American Cancer Society hosts the event.
Kendall Padovani, one of the walk's associate directors, points to two places the money goes. The New York City Hope Lodge on West 32nd Street gives patients and caregivers a place to stay during treatment. Road to Recovery offers free transportation to medical appointments tied to cancer care. Padovani says proceeds also support grants and the researchers the society funds.
Sponsors are bringing activities to the festival, and a colorwall will be on site. Also, a previvor tent is new this year and will offer educational resources about the term.
New York is holding the walk for the 33rd time, and the number of participants is approximately 50,000. Details are available at acsevents.org.
